The world's largest solar system has been put into operation in the Saudi Arabian city of Riyadh, the solar collectors and other components required for this purpose come from Austrian production. The Carinthian company GREENoneTEC Solarindustrie GmbH produced 36,000 square meters of sun collectors worth 3.6 million euros for this project. The non-university research department AEE Intec contributed the complete hydraulics and system concept for the solar thermal power plant.

In order to achieve optimal performance despite the special climatic conditions in the desert state, the solar collectors were adapted accordingly.

Optimized fastening systems ensure that even sand storms with up to 150 km / h do not cause damage to the system.

Special solar glass, which is distinguished by a particularly high light permeability and at the same time equipped against fine sand, optimizes the yield under the given circumstances.

The solar thermal facility of the university campus “Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman” in Riyadh is twice as large as the largest facility in Denmark so far. The collectors of the new solar thermal system prepare hot water for up to 40,000 university students and provide support for heating.
